First foods for baby (10 to 12 months)
From this age group, baby’s diet can include a lot more varieties of foods, including egg yolks, pasta, and diary. At this age it will not be necessary to puree baby’s food and baby should be given foods which are more textured and which will encourage chewing. Foods can be mashed and salt should not be avoided when cooking baby’s meals.
1 cup of lean mince
Pinch of herbs
1-2 tsp Finely chopped onions
1 egg yolk
1 tsp of flour
¼ cup of grated cheddar cheese
1 cup of milk
Maizena (use correct amount for desired thickness – per box instructions), mix with water to form a paste.
Instructions to make meatballs
1) Mix mince with flour, onions and, herbs yolk, and roll out three or four small meat balls. Bake the meatballs for 30 minutes in a pre-heated oven. (Don’t use the oven just for cooking baby’s meatballs – make and bake adult meatballs for the rest of the family)
2) Steam or boil a ½ cup of cauliflower.
To make cheese sauce
1) Bring milk to boil, add cheese. Before milk boils, stir in Maizena.
2) Mash the boiled cauliflower and meatballs together, and drizzle with cheese sauce.
