Microwave Goulash


250g uncooked elbow macaroni
500g ground beef
400g canned diced tomatoes
280g canned tomato sauce
1 cup onion, diced
1 cup celery, sliced
1 medium carrot, sliced
1 tbsp garlic, minced
1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp paprika
1 tsp salt
1 tsp dried oregano
¼ tsp caraway seed
1 pinch cayenne pepper, or to taste

1) Bring a pot of lightly salted water to a boil.
2) Add the macaroni, and cook until tender, about 8 minutes. Drain.
3) Meanwhile, crumble the ground beef into a 2l or larger casserole dish.
4) Add the carrot, onion, celery and garlic.
5) Cook in the microwave on high for 5 to 6 minutes, or until beef is no longer pink.
6) Stir once during cooking.
7) Drain off the grease.
8) Stir the tomatoes, tomato sauce and sugar into the beef, and season with paprika, oregano, caraway seed, cayenne pepper and salt.
9) Cover, and cook in the microwave on power level 8 for about 14 minutes, or until celery is tender.
10) Remove from the microwave, and mix in the cooked macaroni.
11) Cook for 2 to 3 more minutes, until heated through and serve.
