3 ½ cups all purpose flour sifted
½ cup margarine
½ cup milk
1 cup sugar
2 tsps cream of tarter
1 tsp lemon essence
1 tsp baking soda (dissolved in the milk)
1) Sift dry ingredients together.
2) Cream the shortening and add the sugar and egg.
3) Mix until light and fluffy.
4) Add dry ingredients alternately with milk to sugar mixture.
5) Shape into balls or use a cookie cutter to form shapes as desired
5) Bake for 8-10 minutes at 220 °C.
6) Decorate with icing or sprinkles if desired.
